First and most importantly, a PSA for everyone: IF YOU’RE UNDER THE AGE OF 65 AND HAVE NO CHRONIC HEALTH ISSUES, GET YOUR COVID VAX NOW. Here’s why.
This Friday (tomorrow) or soon after, the FDA is expected to license the fall COVID-19 vaccines — BUT they’re expected to approve them only for 65+ or “high risk” individuals*. After the label change, it may be possible for people who are not in these categories to get a vaccine, but it’s going to be red-tape city. (Pharmacists can’t give it off-label, insurers may not cover it, individual physicians may not be willing or able to provide access — I mean, you read the Substack.)
So, before the label changes, if you want your booster (and you should!!!), try Walgreens or a local pharmacy. CVS is no longer booking until the new label is approved.
[*Currently, “high risk” includes some pretty common categories, such as anxiety/depression or a high BMI — even if BMI is a trash metric— so it’s worth checking if you qualify! However, there could be changes made to this list as well.]
Anyway, be safe out there, gang, and do what you need to do.
Now, for our subscribers, without further ado: I almost cracked up during my MRI on Tuesday.
