Although it’s not my favorite Cronenberg film, I have an enormous soft spot for Crimes of the Future (2022) — mostly because of its protagonist, Saul Tenser (a wry, weary Viggo Mortensen).
Saul is a performance artist and, in every sense, a content creator: he literally cannot stop growing new organs. My first time watching the film, I felt such tenderness in response to his fraught relationship to his body. On one hand, his body is his art. His flesh is both his canvas and his creative partner in an ongoing project of transformation. On the other hand, he’s in constant pain — a genuine starving artist because eating is such an ordeal.

Anyway, this is a roundabout way of saying that, without seeking my input, my body is creating more #content. Stay tuned for impending changes to the “Shooting Up” posting schedule as we establish a new normal.
