Mystery Health Insurance Almost Destroyed Me

In 2020, I lost my job due to the pandemic and was also put on a kidney transplant list. The combination led me to cancel my primary insurance and start on Medicare. The only problem? All of my claims were getting denied due to a mystery “secondary insurance plan” that the company insisted I had.
Despite me explaining that I only had Medicare, the computer disagreed, and no one knew how to fix the problem. Eventually, my savior — a health insurance rep — spent over an hour with me on the phone and sorted this out, realizing it was a glitch in their system.
I cried tears of joy as we sorted through every bill from the last 18 months, finally fixing this costly mistake.
