In 2015, during my senior year of high school, I had to get surgery on my butt. I had a vestigial vein right at the top of my butt/lower back, and it got really infected. I didn't know, however, that I was having my surgery done at a teaching hospital. Every time I went in, there were like 10-12 dudes who would just watch someone poke around my ass. They would also make a lot of comments like, "This is so nice: we usually get really hairy old men in for this condition."
After the surgery, my mom had to tape a maxi pad to my butt each day before school for months. I still have a bunch of scars — plus the emotional ones.
